March 10th – 17th, 2018 – FULL!
Zapata Live Aboard – What a trip!
April 29-May 6, 2017
We are excited to return to the Zapata Peninsula, this time aboard the Georgiana yacht. This will be a great trip targeting bonefish, tarpon, permit, and more on the saltwater flats of San Lazaro and surrounding area. The fishing configuration is 4 days of single angler guided fishing and 2 days of double angler fishing. The flats are very shallow and therefore best targeted with one angler per boat. For the two days of double angler fishing, anglers will explore slightly deeper water for permit, tarpon, snapper, jacks, and more.
The price is $4595 per person (double occupancy) and does not include airfare, gratuities, tackle, and personal items. Please note that this price is only good until September 30th of 2016, at which point prices will increase. If you would like to join us or have any questions please contact Blake at the Gig Harbor Fly Shop 253-851-3474.

We will be fishing the Zapata Peninsula, just south of Havana. We are staying in Playa Larga, on the infamous Bay of Pigs.
The Zapata Peninsula is a Cuban National Park and is the largest wildlife reserve in the entire Caribbean! It is home to 175 bird species, 900 species of plants, 31 species of reptiles and plenty of fly eating fish such as Bonefish, Permit, Tarpon, Snook, Snapper, and more.
The fishing program for the week is an excellent set up. You get 6 full days of guided fly fishing: 2 days fishing the shallow flats for bonefish, 2 days fishing the outer flats for bonefish, permit, tarpon, etc, and 2 days fishing the Rio Hatiguanico for 10-100 pound tarpon. This is also all single angler fishing. It’s just you and a Cuban national guide in the boat each day. This provides you with the most fishing opportunity possible.
The rooms at the Enridan Lodge are also single occupancy. Perfectly explained to me by Jon Covich who has been here before, “this is a Christmas Island style trip in Cuba”. The lodging is not extravagant, but clean and quaint. On this trip you get to experience a little more of what Cuba has to offer outside of Havana in the villages and country.
The cost of the trip is $3745 for 7 nights and 6 days of guided fishing and lodging. Cost does not include airfare.
Please consider joining us this April for our Cuba trip to the Zapata Peninsula. The dates are set for April 11-18. If you would like to join us or have any questions please contact Blake at the Gig Harbor Fly Shop 253-851-3474.

Just 90 miles off the coast of Florida, Cuba has been the forbidden fruit for American travelers for decades. Traveling around Cuba is like stepping back in time. Old cars, old buildings, and a unique culture make it an incredible place to visit.
Cuba is famous for its national marine preserves and its tropical saltwater fly fishing. These pristine marine ecosystems host some of the best fishing for bonefish, permit, tarpon, snook, jacks, and more.
We spend 3 nights in Havana (2 up front and 1 at the end), and the rest of the time aboard the 125′ Avalon Fleet II. This incredible yacht can sleep up to 20 (but we’re limiting the trip to 12) and has a crew of 9. The ship has beautiful amenities including lounge, bar, hot tub, and more. Each bedroom has a private bath.
The guides are all Cuban nationals and are very professional.
Meals and drinks upon the ship are provided. Meals in Havana are not included.
Temperatures in late February are great, commonly in the 70-80’s, a very comfortable fishing weather. This is especially great when battling with hard fighting fish!
Blake will be along on the trip to take pictures and video and make sure your trip is as memorable as possible.
